The ancient city of Ephesus, located in modern-day Turkey, is pronounced “EF-uh-sus”. The name is derived from the Greek word “”, which is thought to be of Lydian origin.
Ephesus was one of the most important cities in the Roman Empire, and it was home to a number of significant historical and religious sites, including the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The city was also an important center of early Christianity, and it was here that the Apostle Paul wrote some of his most famous letters.
