Adaptive cruise control (ACC) is an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) that automatically adjusts a vehicle’s speed to maintain a safe following distance from the car in front. ACC uses sensors to monitor the distance to the preceding vehicle and adjusts the throttle and brakes accordingly. It can also bring the car to a complete stop if necessary.
ACC is a convenient and safety-enhancing feature, but there may be times when you need to turn it off. For example, you may want to turn ACC off if you are driving in heavy traffic or if you are following a vehicle that is driving erratically. To turn off ACC, simply press the ACC button on the steering wheel or dashboard. The ACC system will disengage and the car will return to normal cruise control mode.
